Chadderz mentioned in another thread that he'd like to practice sanda if it was around where he is. Anyone else got a hankering to train in anything but just lacking the opportunity? For me I'd love to get involved in Greco-Roman but it's rare as rocking horse dung in my area (north west England). List your white whales of training if you care. Plus who knows someone might know of somewhere in your area.
Good aikido. (sigh) Martially-oriented tai chi (I tasted it in California - amazing stuff) Kendo (there's only one school that I know of, and they only meet one day a week) Escrima/kali (it's rumored to be in a couple places but even if the rumors are true, they're not convenient times and locations)
Defo like to do some more filipino stuff to more depth. I'd really like some training with the jo type of stick too.
Wang Shu Jin style Baguazhang I pretty much do everything else, although I would love to see Kushti up close too
Any form of wrestling, with the exception of Chinese, because I already do that. Judo, and the ability to train the stuff I do more than once a week
There is! A bit of freestyle too. The catch is in Wigan though and really I've been attracted to Greco for the emphasis on clinching (not that you don't have that in other wrestling formats). I just love the clinch and would really enjoy something that pretty much sets up camp in that range. Get HAVOC up here though and I'm all over that and then I can get my catch as catch can sample; if my body can take it. Grabbing has destroyed so much of my body it's not even funny.
BJJ or Luta Livre. During MAP I had tiny little sniff at Greco-Roman, which was pretty cool too. But it's either too expensive for me or not good reachable (within 100 minutes, one way). Plus: Unless they'd train in the morning or the middle of the day, I couldn't make it due to my other training. But, boy, I'd like these! Oh, yeah, and pretty much everything else, since there is never too much that would be interesting to learn.
I'd looove to try kenjutsu! Not kendo, though. I've searched several times, several months apart if anything has changed, but there's nothing in Prague or anywhere close. And a very few places in the whole country, at least as I found.
Shihan Filip Bartoš,Koryukai Dojo Praha,učitel bojových umění Multiple styles of Koryu Kenjutsu, I think it's prague too.
I dont get the term "white whales" also is my presence ehre enough to give you a indication? HEMA, shooting (if you consider it under this lsit) and a dozen of weapon styles from Japan also would have been nice if traditional english arts didnt die out and are not being reconstructed like HEMA is doing to the historical ones of europe.
Jeet Kun Do. Severely lacking many styles out here in the countryside of Missouri. There is one BJJ/MMA gym in town but the hours posted are iffy at best (college towns are funny). Kali escrima, Judo, basic grappling. Wrestling is big at the local high school but can't find a local instructor and I am not willing to travel 3 hours to St. Louis. LOLz.
Shuai Jiao and Chin Na interest me as does traditional jiu jitsu. However, I don't have time (or the money...) to take up an entire new martial art. I'd love to be able to do the occasional seminar or couple of classes to get a feel for these things, though. It's why I enjoyed the last MAP Meet and a little while before that I attended a multi style jiu jitsu day. I attend BJJ Globetrotters training camps and these will often have wrestling or judo sessions included. I find that even just dipping my toes into another style is useful and inspiring.
Would love to train some of George Silver's material (Rataca100 English HEMA), some within the M25 but finding the time and always wanted to try catch wrestling.
Oh, thank you Dead_pool! Ok, I was wrong, there apparently are kenjutsu schools in Prague. I also found this website some time ago. And another club where kenjutsu is among their styles, but have no mention of actual classes. As you can see, though, this kenjutsu is only taught on request in private classes. I am not sure if that is what I want (picky, aren't I? ), but overall it is hellishly expensive. 1000 CZK (= 35 GBP)/ 60 minutes? I pay 5000 CZK as a year-long membership in my karate dojo....
I've always wanted to try my hand at some Kendo. Also would like to experience some Bogu Kumite along the lines of Kudo but I know there's none of that local to me too.
