Why shouldn't I do isometric stretches in the morning ?

You should avoid stretching in the morning period. The body is very stiff in the morning.

Wouldn't that be a great reason for stretching?

Flexing the spine in the one or two hours upon waking up is tricky because the intervertebral discs have expanded and are full of water after sleep...
However, muscles and tendons need a good stretch, ideally dynamic, in order to bring them to the range and elasticity that you'll need all day! :)

    Osu!

Isometric stretches cause fatigue and the last thing you want is muscles that are knackered first thing in the morning with a full day ahead of you

Agreed, it's stiff in the morning (if it isn't, see a doctor!) but seriously, the first thing my cat does in the morning is stretch and yawn. Perhaps we should make a distinction between stretching (ie. hyperextension) and "natural range of movement" exercises. "Stretching" should only be done with warm/loose muscles, but "loosening up" is probably a good idea. Allowing your muscles to remain in a contracted state probably won't do you any favours.
