Has anyone here been prescribed or recommended testosterone replacement therapy? If so, what were the results? If you decided against it, why?
I just wrote a paper for class on this actually, and it's kind of a mixed bag from what I read. I wouldn't go for it unless you have severely lowered testosterone levels. My professor is one of the foremost endocrinologists in the country - her stance was that although some men have low levels of testosterone they don't appear to be any different than men with higher levels of T. Boosting levels of T is correlated with weight loss and muscle growth in some men, but also with developing cancer and thyroid problems in others. Let me delve into the literature to dig some stuff up for you. Note that some of what I'm posting disagrees with my stance... http://www.nature.com/ijir/journal/v19/n1/pdf/3901366a.pdf http://www.nature.com/pcan/journal/v17/n2/full/pcan201360a.html http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3440621/
