I woke up this morning with a sharp excrutiating pain in my left elbow. I noticed that i was sleeping on it awkwardly. It hurts to move it as if i were flexing my bicep, or if i get close to fully extended. its been about 20 minutes since ive been awake and it still hurts like hell. is it possible that i couldve jacked up my elbow just by sleeping on it weird??? I went to bed last night with no pain whatsoever. yeah it (*&^%$ hurts.
Try moving it around different ways gently it'll hurt at first but i find the pain eases once its loosened
Try to ignore it and it will probably free up on its own. The mistake people make with things like this is twisting the joint in all manner of unnatural directions looking for a way to stop it hurting - that can make things worse and can turn a non-injury into a serious injury. You've probably held it in an odd position in the night and tweaked the ligaments. Might be a bit sore for a couple of days but it's probably not serious if you can (albeit painfully) bend and straighten your arm. Treat it like you would any injury - with ice, rest and anti-inflammatories. If it persists, see your doctor.
yeah theres still a little soreness around the joint but my tricep doesnt hurt anymore, so it should be fine in a day or two... thanks lol who woulda thought you could injure yourself while sleeping haha
Don't listen to him You guys are so hilarious! You told him to rest, ice, and take anti-inflammitories AND if it still hurts go see a doctor. The funny part is that his doctor will give him the same stupid advice you just gave him. Then the doc will refer him to an orthopedic "specialist" who will tell him it isn't broken and to rest it Even more. By the time the origional poster realizes it his injury, if partially dislocate badly enough, will beck e chronic and hurt for years. Do range of motion movements and go see a chiropractor that can set more bones than just the spine. If it's dislocate enough the pain will go away but you probably never get the range of motion back. Then arthritis might set in. Keep it moving and that will get blood to it. Doctors know a lot but they know nothing about fixing injuries. They tell you the ice routine because they can't prescribe antibiotics and they're hoping it just heals on its own.
