Greetings MAPers, I want to get rid of my flabby lower abs. You see it's only my upper abs that seems to be in shape and not the lower. I've been doing ab crunches and I only feel the burn in the upper abs. What type of ab workout that best for the lower abdomen? I've tried the sitting V workout but I found it difficult and my guess is my abs aren't strong enough to do the workout. Maybe you guys could recommend an easy workout for ermm...beginners? Thank You. Intan  Help me fight the Orcs and don't let our beautiful world fall into darkness. United we stand, devided we fall. http://www.kingsofchaos.com/recruit.php?uniqid=zgay57pj
Leg raises. Either lying on your back or with a machine deely... But, it won't get rid of the flab. You have to burn the fat off with aerobics and just a better diet. Your body fat % is just too high. Oh, and there's no way of knowing whether it'll burn you ab flab off first, or legs, or arms. It's just based on your genes. PL
After about 8 weeks of healthy eating, I can actually see a faint line beginning to form up the center of my lower abs. I also do leg raises to work them.
Definition is related to Body Fat % so if you want the six pack you may have to include more aerobic and anaerobic conditioning(HIIT, Tabata, Fartlek) as well as paying careful attention to your Diet. Reducing BF% may or may not be beneficial to your sport, find a ab routine ,stick to it,vary intensity and variety as needed and the look will be a flow on effect. I would recommend these ab/core excerises Windmill Bent Press Saxon Side Press V ups (real ones) Check out these articles http://www.american-gymnast.com/tt/strength/circuits/midsection.htm http://www.t-mag.com/articles/205abs.html http://www.t-mag.com/articles/197steel.html See what you think

Oh, and dude, take a look at this: http://www.exrx.net/WeightTraining/Myths.html To have good abs, a load of things have to fall into place. You have to have your cardio nailed down, good nutrition, and an ability to squat your own bodyweights seems also to be pretty much a given. Good luck
One thing that Knight Errant began to touch on is the fact that...there is no such thing as "lower abs". When you perform a crunch, the entire muscle contracts. There is no "upper", "middle", "lower" or "upside down" section of the abs. With that said, and hopefully accepted by everyone, the key to building great-looking abs is a finding a balance of weight-training, nutrition, and cardio. No amount of crunches, leg raises, or reverse crunches will guarantee you a 6-pack. Focus of big moves (squat, deadlift, bench, pull-up), and basic ab training (1 crunching movement and/or 1 twisting movement), throw in a good interval cardio routine, straighten up you nutrition (more protein, more healthy fats, moderate complex carbs), and you'll be on the right road.
if you REALLY want definition, just cut all of the skin and fat right off of that mean six pack. or just start doing heroin.
Yes well, as my mother sometimes says...All people are stupid. Search any anatomy book ever published, and you will not find any mention of lower abs, or upper abs, (or upside down abs, but that's because I made it up). There's the rectus abdominus, the obliques, and underneath it all is the transverse abdominals. The linea alba do not differentiate between different muscles, just different areas of the same muscle. I'm sure Adam McG can back me up on this. You cannot train your "lower abs" with leg raises, the same way you can't "peak" your biceps with preacher curls. Both for the same reason, there is no lower abs, there is no peak, and there never will be, at least until we evolve in, say, 125,000 years.
