Well as I just found out I'll hopefully have a tournament in March. Unfortunately I've gone over the weight limit in the section I usually spar in Nothing too major, I hope, as I am only 4 or 5 kg's 'overweight'. So if anyone could give me some advice on what sort of routines to do as well as what to avoid eating it would be very much appreciated. Thanks
If you have a tourney coming up you should be getting plenty of cardio already. Don't eat sweets, pastry, or any take away food, try to cut down on dairy as much as you can, especially the really fatty stuff like cheese. Eat organic turkey whenever possible, and try to avoid carbs after 7pm. Splitting when you eat into lot's of smaller meals, at least 5/6, will help push your metabolism up.
Any sources of carbs in particular? Also, what should I be having in these 5/6 smaller meals? And finally how difficult do you think losing the 5kg's will be, how long should it take? Thanks
You can lose a kilo a week if you don't cheat on it and get regular exercise. For carbs, you should be avoiding sugars completely, and if you do eat carbs try to eat them as early as possible so your body can use them in the day. Three main meals, with smaller snack meals between should be fine, but try to stick to the pointers above. I can't give you a good estimate for how long it will take, there's far too many variables involved, but be strict with your diet, eat more small meals than less big meals, keep up your training and the weight will come off quicker.
