I have the opinion that everyone must be happy with their physique. For the appearance of your physique, is a window into how you live your life. Now if you cant look at yourself naked in the mirror, and be happy with what you see, then you cant be happy with your life.. which made it that way. This is a belief of mine, pretty much stating you are the end result of your own decisions. Now this is quite "Blunt" and maybe "Bold" which is why i have never expressed this to my clients. I thought i would ask the team, what they thought about it? do you agree, disagree? or have your own belief.
Disagree, your physique can represent how hard to you work. Bad physique to sends of the impression of lazyness.
My <assets> could always be a little bigger but hey what can you do. This is a family friendly site, thanks
Disagree. I could be very happy eating way more chocolate and cookies than I do and that would make me way fatter than I am. Hence, happy life, unhappy body. Likewise, I could work very hard at intellectual pursuits which would have no impact on my physique. Again, happy with life, unhappy with body. Your statement is only true if what would make you happy is a certain shape of body more than any other factor.
I took the original post to mean if you can look at your body and be happy, regardless of shape, you're most likely a confident person who goes after what you want and doesn't care what people think of you, and are likely more outgoing and fun to be with. My physique says a lot about my diet if nothing else
Very true , when it comes down to it, if your happy with your life and what it has reaped, all tho negative results on your physique "Don't complain about it!" do something about it! you are the result of your actions..
Completely agree with Moosey. I think the confusion is the difference between being happy with yourself and being happy with your appearance. Most people can point out areas of their body they would like to improve whether they're content with what they have or not. To not have this would mean you had no vanity, which is very much a part of human nature whether we like it or not. Some people realise a good physique is not important to them, spending time with children, partners and families, socialising with friends or working towards goals or hobbies take priority over training 5 or 6 days a week and their time is better spent elsewhere. They may not be happy with their physique but that does not mean they are unhappy. On the other side some people who are unhappy with their lives work very hard to be in shape as though it is the panacea which will cure everything else wrong in their lives. If anything it gives them a means to forget/ignore/bury the issues they should be concerned about, making a good physique detrimental to their happiness even if it does provide some solace. Likewise keeping fit and striving to improve yourself does not necessarily mean you are unhappy in your life.
The more i think about this, the more it becomes apparent to me this is very much a "state of mind" For how could you Say you were unhappy with your physique, if what you have been doing with your life "which u freely choose" has made it this way. Just like people train to make their physique what they want it, people don't train and pursue other goals which essentially makes their physiques how they have chosen to have it. Hence why i say. if you can't look in the mirror and be happy with your body. Then where you have been leading your life cant be that rewarding.
"Some people realise a good physique is not important to them, spending time with children, partners and families, socialising with friends or working towards goals or hobbies take priority over training 5 or 6 days a week and their time is better spent elsewhere. I totally understand where you are coming from, and to a certain degree agree with your post how ever this part i don't This is what i'm getting at. Spending time with children etc.. to the fact there is no time for physical improvement of ones self, is very much that persons choice. which is where i am of the opinion that they, can't complain about their physique because this is what they have chosen. and the body had followed the stimulus it has been provided with. This was your choice, this is the result, be happy with it. or else change the way you do things.
Agree, especially with the bold bit. It's only a factor if it's a factor for you. And I personally happen to be one of those people who's self-image is quite strongly tied to my physique. And yes, I also judge people by the way they look (and I do know I shouldn't!)
That was not meant as a statement that your physique is all that matters, over other goals in life. When i say that, it means, if your other activities which have kept you busy from any sort of physical conditioning, still leave you looking at your physique with negative thoughts, then they cant be that important to you, for if they were and you were achieving in what you were striving towards and you would happily sacrifice exercise for these goals. then it shouldnt matter what your physique looks like because this is your path you have chosen to take. Vanity is not part of this
It's a bit of a silly statement in my opinion as there are many factors unconsidered. I work damn hard to keep in good shape- and will continue to work harder. This in turn helps me to stay lean. There are plenty of guys who don't lead a remotely similar lifestyle to me but who are in the same shape as me because of genetics. Appearences can be deceiving- as they say.
Not really happy with mine, I look like a delicate little doll. I can bench my own weight, but still look like a delicate little doll, and everyone treats me like one. 'Do you need help lifting that', etc...
