I have a question for the experts on this forum about how much water should I be drinking [and when] so that I know I have sufficient hydration prior to a really strenuous workout. It doesn't seem to matter how much I drink prior and during to some sessions, because I often seem to get leg cramps and feel really thirsty particularly when doing high energy output stuff...
For the last month I have been drinking lots of water and have seen a big increase in energy levels. The way that I judge whether I am hydrated enough is the colour of my urine. Now it comes out almost clear. Also, now when I urinate, I can actually smell if I am hydrated sufficiently Hope this helps.
I always thought that Leg Cramps were caused by low levels of some minerals. Try taking a MultiVitamin+Minerals tablet once a day. Drinking an Electrolyte Drink during/after training will also help. Cheers.
I take multivitamins daily. And I drink water like a fish! I find I cant drink the electrolyte type drinks - they make me get all flegmy and I start coughing up lumps of it [I have asthma anyway so have difficulty with breathing during fast & hard sessions]. It's probably my age catching up with me...
I consulted my friend Mr Google, and he says: http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/ask_doctor/leg_cramp.shtml http://www.tiscali.co.uk/reference/encyclopaedia/familyhealth/first_aid/pages/az/43.html http://www.24dr.com/reference/encyclopaedia/cramp.htm Good Luck.
