    Howdie all

1hen doing intense cardio I sweat like a PIG, nothing unusual there really.
Past two weeks though I have been starting to smell a really strong amonia smell. I wash my kit after every outing, I shower every morning and after training. What is the smell, is it me murning my lifeforce away? Any ideas folks?

Interesting. My sweat doesn't smell like ammonia, but after a long run (well, long for me--more than 4-5 miles), about 5-10 minutes after I get done I get a strong odor of ammonia in my nose briefly. It must be related to this.

When the body breaks down ketones in the system it excretes an ammonia like smell. Very common really. Particularly in thin people.

    Heavy sweating

I've no ammonia fumes, but do have LOTS of intense sweating during intense cardio...moreso than with jogging.

Knowing that sweating is the body's way of cooling itself, is unusual sweating a sign that the bodies 'cooling system' might be off in some way?

There is such a thing as pathological excessive sweating, however it's normally due to problems in the nervous system rather than any sort of problem with temperature control. And it's normally in specific areas such as hands, feet and armpits.

I sweat really easy which works for me at work, makes me look like I'm really working hard.
