Doing a bunch of patch work in an apartment building called "The Atrium." It's a retirement home, so it's all old people.

    Bunch of old birds xD

I had one woman chase me down from one end of a hallway yesterday. Was it because I possibly missed something in her room and she was trying to tell me about it? No. She wanted to tell me a storm was coming and it was going to rain.

Sounds cute, but it's not cute when you're trying to get work done and get paid

Went for a haircut at a barbers I've never been to before - turns out the guy cutting my pair was in my training platoon at Catterick. :)

I'd be concerned if someone was cutting my pair.

You first have to summon a demon before you can banish it. Just make sure you don't keep picking at it till it gets infected.

My psych was particularly worried during the first six months after my divorce. Along with how messed up and helpless I was due to my PTSD anxiety crap at the time, you would have thought having to reset my life and going through a divorce would have been a significant hindrance to my recovering/anxiety management. However, like most situations where people find themselves reacting emotionally I just shut it down, laced my boots a little tighter and kept moving on.

The downside of being able to do that, which I've learned a lot about through seeing a psych, is although it' very beneficial to continuing to function while the event is happening, there WILL be a time all the feels will come out. Then it's a question on if I wait for it to be a torrent of depression and misery, or exploring it intentionally a little bit at a time and managing the whole acceptance of the situation before it becomes a disastrous blowblack of pent up emotions. I've had enough of the latter, so I've been trying to do the former a lot : P.

Yeah, I've gone the latter route a couple of times and it sucks compared to the former!

The trouble with bottling things up entirely and not releasing any pressure off the valve is that it can blow at very unexpected and inconvenient times.

Allowing yourself manageable, bitesize chunks is best. Take enough time over it and they hardly taste bitter at all after a while!

I know what you mean though. I'm a fairly passionate guy in everyday life, but as soon as disaster hits I go emotionally numb and into cerebral planning mode. Partly as a consequence of being in the "freeze" family of fight/fight/freeze, and partly from self-conditioning routines I put myself through after deciding I was never going to melt down without my own permission again :D

Thankfully the people I know who've been blown in half had the good grace to do it thousands of miles away from me, so at least I've got the lack of PTSD/healthy brain thing going for me ;)

Washing machine broke lastnight, didn't realize most stores don't carry the higher quality appliances in stock so I had to . . . . . shop (which was terrible).

Finally found a store that if they didn't have it in stock, they could get the majority of their appliances to me next day due to their warehouse being close by.

Found a $800 washer that was the last they had, and was the floor model and "out of box", so it was only $512. Got the 5yr warranty bumped down $50 from $230, and he bumped the washer down further to $499.95 to make it easier to keep track of in his books. So I got a $1030.00 piece of equipment and the best warranty offered for about $680.00. I guess I did good.

The final price was what it would have cost to get it at Lowe's without a warranty, and a couple hundred less than it would have cost at Home Depot.

I think I should add this on my dating profile. 0_0

This morning I went to do bonsai. This usually means taking care of all of the work that I need to do, so I usually wake up at 5 am and do business until 10 or so. Anyway, 10 am rolls around, and I go into my bonsai garden and there's a pit bull chained in there. Initially I'm cautious, but the little guy is friendly and freaks out every time I try to leave. One of the tenants comes out and says that he's holding him for his cousin. I give the dog some food and water, then start looking him over. He's flea-bitten, has a scar around his hip from where wire cut in, his ears are torn up, he has rashes all over, mange and a gash on his foot that certainly requires stitches. While he was freaking out alone he managed to destroy $150 worth of rhododendron in the garden. He was left with no food or water.

We wound up calling the cops to try to get something done, but I think we're looking at evicting these tenants. Who the hell treats animals this way?

Where I live, it's common to see people chain their dogs to a tree in their yard and basically only feed and water them once or twice a day. That's the dog's life right there, just chained to a tree "guarding" the property.

With that said, not even the people who treat their animals that way have their animal in a condition you described. That's the type of thing I see with stray animals. That's a special kind of neglect right there, one that probably includes abuse. Good lord.

Honestly man, I just really, really hope something good happens to that dog. I was taking him to my car to bring him to the vet and the cousin showed up to take him and the police were there and there wasn't much I could do.

I'm really sad and angry. And there's really not much I can do.

Could you contact the equivalent of the RSPCA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. I think it's the ASPCA in the US, right?)?

I did, they told me to contact the police. The police said that because they don't even know the owner there isn't much they could do; after all the dog could have been recently rescued and the abuse was not performed by the owner.

In other words..."We have better things to do!".

Sad. I really wish they'd bring in tougher laws regarding pet ownership and with that, tougher penalties for abuse.

They should, and I don't say that out of concern for the animal's well-being as much as I say that out of the knowledge that abused and neglected animals can turn very mean and maim/kill people. There's a level of responsibility that should be required to own pets with the well-being of other people in mind.

Just in this story we have destruction of property, and potentially Philo getting injured trying to involve himself with the animal.

I have a long time online friend (known them since I was around 17) that is in school to become an illustrator. I had her do the logo and design for our company's business cards.

I randomly decided I wanted to do something nice for her today and asked her what her dream art table would be along with various other questions that made it seem like I was looking for something for me. Of course she picks the one that's like 2k

Good thing I've been working extra xD

Yeah man. For various reasons I have a lot of experience with aggressive animals and if I had been at all sketched out I would have gotten out of there.

It was really frustrating because that was the general attitude of the LEO. And I mean, I get that, I do. But we're in an insanely small town and like, there's genuinely not much else he could be doing. We filed a police report, but we'll see what happens.
