    Hi Ron
I think that you may be the fellow who asked about my training under both Saito shihan (the elder) and Chiba shihan. I trained under Chba shihan for the ten years he was resident in Britain. When he relocated to San Diego I told him I would be seeking another teacher and he immediately suggested Saito Morihiro shihan who was the keeper of the aiki shrine at that time. When Saito shihan asked who had been my pevious teacher and I told him Chiba shihan he said excellent. Both of these masters spoke of each other with the highest respect. I would suggest that any implied ill feeling between the representatives of these two masters is simply that ugly beast politics rasing it's head and should be utterly ignored. Whenever I hear someone say his group is the best I am reminded of the fool who locked himself in a telephone box and laughed insanely because as he saw it everyone else was locked out!!

    Stay open minded Bill

    Glasgow uni original instructor

Ninja belly dancer was correct. I taught at the glasgow university aikido club which was originated by myself and Charles Woolfson for more than twenty years. By the way ninja belly dancer thanks for the fifty plus complement. At present I teach at the makotokai.co.uk. And to put aside ridiculous rumours. You DO NOT have to be a black belt to join. Joining is NOT invitation only
Any serious martial artist or beginner is more than welcome to join.

The Ki Aikido club in Barrhead? The One run by Bill Andrew? It's a McDojo in my opinion. It's run as Bill Andrew's pension fund. The emphasis is on getting members through the door and not on quality training.

And just so you know. I'm talking from personal experience. I attended the club for 10 years and got to 3rd dan. It was painful to watch a decent club get so run down. So many good dan grades left. Such a shame.

Sensei Bill Andrews passed away in 20011..Sensei Andrews was the head instructor one of the largest clubs in the country boasting 24 black belts - 2-7th Dans, 5-4th Dans, 2-3rd Dans, 4-2nd Dans and 11-1st Dans – and a host of coloured belt holders aspiring to attain that level.

Well I can't say I'm sorry to hear that. The belt means nothing without the skill to back it up. I know from experience most of those black belts will not have the skill to match similar grades from other Aikido clubs. By the way. His surname was "Andrew", not "Andrews".

If you attend the club then why not? Are you not allowed to have an opinion? Will you be punished for having an opinion? Is it some sort of top secrete information? Where there are secretes there are usually bad things. Just saying.

    Dear Aikiwolfie,
I consider it ill to speak of the dead in a negative manner..No one is perfect [even me ].Lets try to show some compassion and a degree of forgiveness.I did not know this gent, but I am sure he may have had some redeeming qualities. All the best, Joe.
