An interesting thread over on another forum regarding this video (apologies if you have already seen this).... http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=1e9_1354027157 Some speculation as to whether or not its aikido that is being used by the kid defending himself? I can kinda see it (but maybe its because I am wanting to see it?). What say you knowledgable folk?
To avoid bias it would be interesting if this was edited/moved/reposted under General martial arts/self defense and people asked what style it looks like he's using, so nobody's looking for any particular thing. If nothing else the kid has a helluva punch and seems to understand balance. That was pretty sweet. Dude was totally chilled through the whole thing too lol
Alot of styles use throws i. Could be kickboxing or mma. The guy in the red shirt was abit stocky , so could be mma your guess is as good as mine.
Ermm...he hit the other dude and ragged him about by grabbing his clothes. Good old fashioned school yard fightin' as far as I could see.
You guys are living in fantasy land. Seriously. Aikido? MMA? Kickboxing? Sweet Jesus what are you guys on?!! :bang: It was a highschool locker room punch up. Nothing more. The aggressor wasn't aggressive enough and didn't have the reach. He missed with all his lead shots and the other kid wasn't caught off guard in the least. If the aggressor had any clue he's have swung with the kid had his head turned or when the other kid was taking off his back pack. Once he missed the initial shots and the guys hands were up he should have shot in and taken him down... a bit of ground n' pound for the bully win. lol... seriously. What is it with martial arts people looking for styles in every street fight. Despite whatever fantasy land you lot live in - there's plenty of punch ups that happen every day, everywhere that have no codified training system behind them. And if you think that's Aikido...it's to be the crappest Aikido ever. No entry, no kazushi point, and he loses contact with his opponent and therefore control. That'd make that a big Aikido fail.
technically speaking it looks more like tai chi but yeah, what slip said. styles don't fight, anyway, they're just codified systems of training. YOU fight, and when you fight, you do whatever the hell you want, and CAN, hopefully influenced positively by what you trained, if you train.
Ya, your opening line was a little much, Slip. (Ignoring how you said it, and looking only at what you said, though, I completely agree. Your analysis hit the mark.)
Lol evva! Funnily enough the thread on the other forum is very similar to this! Ah well at least the bully kid got schooled!
ahhaha.. yeah some days I just watch as the words leave my mouth and I think... damn.. no way I'll get them back. Think of my posts like burnt toast... actually yummy underneath it all... if you can just scrape off the acerbic burnt layer first.
Aikido? Is that what atemi looks like? I saw two kids who don't know how to fight, one getting a hold of the clothing of the other and slinging the other around, pretty common stuff.
