Have been considering giving Aikido a try.

Near me, I have two different Dojos, one of which teachs "Aikido Ten Chi Ryu".

What kind of techniques will they teach, mostly?
I'm not able to try right now, since i've broken a finger in bjj.

If you guys can give some insight and also help figuring which is the best dojo (what I should look for) i'd be thankful.

    :google:
I always appreciate it when someone is interested in aikido, but that question is best answered from your own internet search and by looking at books in a library ...

... and by visiting the dojo.

You are right. The problem with surfing the web is that I end up in bullshido websites...or atleast that's what it looks like.

Visiting the dojo is an option, but atm I'm depending on somehow that can drive me there and because of that, i'll have to delay the visit.

edit: I have a dojo pretty close to my place. I can actually walk there. The master has a 5th dan...which according to Portuguese federation, is one of the highest here. I think it's safe to say that the guy has plenty of experience...right?

Yes, a 5th dan is a very high rank.

I'll give it a try as soon as my finger is healed.

What makes me morecurious is that most demonstrations that I see are done in "slow motion"...can't imagine any practical effects. Not criticizing just because "YES. I'm actually trying to understand the mechanics of a class.
