zen do kai

    how good is zen do kai karate for self defence practicality...
    all I know that it is a relatively new style among all the different karate styles... I am interested to know its unique properties that make it different form other styles. thanx for any info...

    Domidude,

    While I don't practice Zen Do Kai I have attended seminars given by Sensei Campos at the yearly Supersummers Event (a cross art festival/conference hosted by Zen Do Kai).

    From what I have seen, it has a very straight forward and direct approach to self defense. As a rule it keeps things simple and effiencent. The techniques I've seen stress the interception of an attack. It was demonstrated with striking, joint manipulation and take downs and with street weapons (ie, club, knife, etc).
