My New Year's Resolutions: Eat more - try to gain some weight Drink more - I don't get drunk often enough Have more sex - the ladies just don't know what they're missing Train less - I really overdo it sometimes. So far, I haven't been very successful with any of those.
My new year stuff is: Pay bills on time Open Toshindo school in Los Angeles Pay bills on time Get rid of the 10 pounds of puppy fat that has plagued me ever since I found Ben and Jerry's Phish Food Ice Cream Pay bills on time Do the dishes and take out the trash when I say I will (my wife is looking over my shoulder as I write this LOL) Patrick
Become a 7th kyu in RVD by the end of this year Get over my fear of flips and do a handspring Get a laptop Get in some dojo training besides in March Do totally kicking good at the RVD tai kai training camp Practice, practice, practice Get my driver's lisence Get my own health insurance Man, all this stuff is going to cost me, dude.......
How far East in the East Bay are you? There's a Booj group in the Berkeley/Oakland area run by some students of Michael Simien (11th dan), who is my "oldest surviving student". (Michael moved to Brazil year before last and is teaching there now.) The group's instructors often train with me in San Francisco as well, and I'd be happy to hook you up with them if you want to be able to train on a regular basis. For some further training exposure, I'd recommend checking out the annual Buyu Camp West, just across the Golden Gate Bridge in the Marin Headlands, where there are always more 10th+ dan instructors teaching in one place than you'll ever see outside Japan.
Kalifallen, you would do well to check out Dale's suggeaston. Having had the pleasure of meeting Dale a few years ago (you probably don't remember me) and having seen him in action, it would be a great opportunity for you.
1. Get promoted at work 2. Attain my Shodan rank 3. Visit more countries 4. Make more friends 5. See Gloucester win at home at least once this season.
Thanks Dale and Kuro. In March Peaceful Tiger and I are going to try to go to Dale's dojo in SF. The Oakland one is a bit closer than the SF one. By I think 10-15 miles. I'll try to look into it a bit more.
Just an update: I seem to be doing a lot better with my resolutions - still can't seem to gain any weight though. The rest are coming along nicely! I guess I could add getting my aikido blackbelt this year to the list as well. I got my BBT shodan Feb. 5th (it wasn't a goal for the year - just sorta happened). Two shodans in a year would be pretty neat. Good luck everyone on achieving your goals!
