    Hi all

after much deliberation/consideration i am looking to take up wing chun or a southern style of kung fu.

I'm looking for some recommendations in the boroughs of enfield, barnet or potters bar.

a hamstring injury is much improved but i have been advised that i will always have a weakness there hence the southern style or wing chun.

any good clubs people. ideally that have weekend classes too?

    cheers all

TBH unless you're doing TKD I don't think you'll have a problem anyway. Can't seem to find much Wing Chun but there's a JKD group with a big Kali/Panantukan program in Barnet.

There's a load of places. depends what you want to be honest.

If you want to learn to fight using your kung fu then:

Hung Gar: http://www.kungfu.co.uk/hungkuen.htm (Jim Uglow's School. Top notch Hung Gar0

Chow Gar Southern Praying Mantis: http://www.chowgarsouthernmantis.com/ (Paul Whitrod's school)

I teach Hung Ga – nothing to do with Jim Uglow’s school or his line, but what I have seen of his stuff is good and he has a good reputation.

I strongly recommend you go along and check him out.

If you can get to learn off Paul Whitrod, he offers various systems. I would 100% go to him.

    +1 for Paul Whitrod

Also, feel free to check out our I Liq Chuan group, it’s a mix of several styles with a strong Hakka flavor (Phoenix Eye, Feng Yang Lu Yi - some people called it Lu Yie Pa Kua, Hsing-I Pa Kua or Liew Mun Pai), mostly martial orientated training with a lot of two person drills, cooperative and not.

Here's a small selection of vids, there are loads online.

If interested, send me a PM and I'll put you in touch with our group leader, training is free for the time being, usually once or twice a week for 2 hours each normally around either Finsbury Park or Caledonian Road, and Green Park if the weather is nice.
