Hi, What do you mean by using the term spar?You spar in boxing, and in arts like karate, muai tai etc.Apart from Tomiki Aikido there is no competitive elements in Aikido.Sparring to me suggests competitiveness to me-in effect a contradiction in terms of aikido philosophy.However this lack of competion does not mean that Aikido lacks effectiveness [when done by a competent person] . I, for what it is worth, would agree with Linds If there is no randori with a fully resistant, spontanious opponent, then then effectives of any system can not be properly assesed
