I'm 25 years old and I want to start studying kung fu intesively. I really want to reach a high level of proficency and I'm prepared to study it for many years.

Have you thought about what style you might be interested in?

"Kung Fu" can cover a lot.

I know it can cover a lot but I haven't thought of a particular style yet.

What places would you recommend in general?

There aren't general places. Better to think about what's available to you and then start looking at individual schools. Good gung fu could be taught at everything from a community rec center to a formal kwoon (school).

It doesn't look like you've thought this one through man. What styles are you interested in an for what purpose do you want to learn them?

Shaolin is probably the one that appeals to me the most.

Cool. Is there any reason you want intensive training?

Because I'm really interested in kung fu and I want to reach a high level.

Hi, the reason why we ask for specifics is so we can direct you to a school that would most likely suit your needs.
"Shaolin" is still about as vague as you can get. You got Sanshou (Chinese Kickboxing) type and you got the wushu/gymnastic lot.

Regardless, I'll just post this here which is google-able and let you make your own research

Good luck! Wushu looks incredibly rewarding ;3

Just don't expect to be able to fight incredibly well. That's more for the San Shou crowd :)

Probably a good idea to go look for yourself -you dismiss it as wushu yet by your own admission you know nothing about gong fu
I'm pretty sure they run a sanda school under this guy, shifi Yan Lei

This should be our stock answer when asked, "how do I condition my shins?"

    Also, that's tomorrow's training sorted out. :D

I didn't get the impression he was dismissing it, I got the impression he WANTED wushu

Slightly off topic... does anyone know what brand of chest protector the trainer is using?

Can't tell, but it looks like a fairly generic sparring chest guard.
