What's the most unusual name you've come across when learning your forms? the most descriptive? not too concerned about semantics/direct translation, as it's the descriptive value that's the most important to communicate. Personally, I like "monkey throws up fruit" from my bagua circular form, but it's a shame we're stuck with "fair lady works the shuttles" in the Yang form, even though it's such a great move. From a poetic/highly descriptive pov I also like "wild geese take flight" in bagua.
My friend showed me a Tai Chi move in one of his forms called something like "Buddha's attendant pestles mortar"... he does Chen style.
my favourite move is called "king kong male fist" in chen. Interestingly enough, I've seen this move called "Buddha's attendant pestles mortar". Strange how that stance has a funny name in both versions I've always wondered why different schools within the same style use different names.
"Buddha's Warrior Attendant Pounds Mortar" is what I've heard it called. I like Part the Wild Horses Mane, both in movement and in name.
What about this: White Ape Presents Fruit (Bai Yuan Xian Guo). And someone may ask what kind of fruit and to whom? Answer: kick :woo: (fruit) in your ass for asking too many questions
sorry kinda late yes im new! From Chen.... Green Dragon Emerges From Water Step Back To Ride the Tiger Plum Blossoms Scattered by Wind The Hitting of Rubbing Eyebrow Makes Red
yang's "repulse monkey" is merely called "step back and whirl arms" in chen yang's title is more interesting ______________ "monkey throws up fruit" sounds similar to like "White Ape present fruit" i wonder if the forms are similar too? in white ape from a low stance you with left palm against ribs do small clockwise circle into fist at same time with right fist do a big clockwise circle at your side this right fist comes out of circle with an upper cut motion yo your left at same time you bring right knee up turning to your left to stand on your right leg and your right elbow meets your right knee while your left fist stays at your waist is the bagua form similar? ________________________________ Buddha's attendant pestles mortar king kong male fist (this one might be a southern variation) Buddha's Warrior Attendant Pounds Mortar Jou Tsung Hwa calls it "King Kong Nailed Fist" Ive seen somewhere something like "Viajra Pestles" Chen Xiao-Wang calls it "Buddha's Warrior Attendant Pounds Mortar"
it could save your life someday them furious monkeys are vicious beasts others wise they wouldnt have a move designed specifically to repulse them. for you see back in ancient times gangs of bandit monkeys roamed china and the amazing tai chi fighters were all that stood in there way. sounds like a cool movie or something. which would you choose stand back and whirl arm or repulse monkey . if all else fails you could throw your guitar at them.
