My local PBS channel shows shows from across the Atlantic. Some have grabbed my attention. Jack Taylor, an Irish detective drama seems pretty intense from what ive seen. Raised by Wolves, a British comedy seems funny. Agatha Raisin, Scottish detective drama seems interesting and fairly light hearted. Anyone here familiar with those shows?
Raised by wolves is ok. Not really my cup of tea, but my wife enjoys it. As for the others; ive not seen them.
Yes, they show Irish shows in England. They also let us look after their pet leprechauns when they go on holiday.
Yes, We get on great now! Part of Ireland is even in the UK! And the other part is in the EU with us!
Game of Throwns is an Irish programme. Not only that, but it is an Irish programme based on the English wars of the roses !
Well Mexico is nice enough to supply us with tequila and cheap labor and we still don't like them. And I heard the UK withdrew from the EU.
Actually, the USA gets on very well with Mexico - much better than England and Ireland have historically. You've not had Mexicans planting bombs on your streets, or waging guerilla warfare against your police and armed forces. Don't believe the hate that your current administration is peddling. And, our spat with the EU - we're pretty much still chums.
The pot I sold, most of it was grown south of the border. And I never said Mexico is to blame for all of it. The cocaine comes from south America, some of the heroin comes from overseas. The dope pipelines are complicated.
Mod Note: Hey everyone, I split the thread. The topic of Illegal immigration crime rates in the US really took on a life of its own and had nothing to do with the original topic. For anyone wanting to continue that conversation, I moved it here. Illegal immigration - Does it unduly affect US crime rates?
Not those in particular, but my mother has been addicted to British comedies for, gosh, 30 years? I recently finished "Sherlock" (starring a hobbit and Dr. Strange) courtesy of Netflix and absolutely loved it.
I enjoyed the Sherlock shorts! I think the last one was weaker of them, but still enjoyable. I think of the British TV shows made fairly recently I enjoyed "call the midwife" post WW2 drama about midwifery. and non fiction, everyone raves about Blue Planet/Blue Planet 2, I'm sure they're on Netflix. Fascinating marine life nature documentary. Plenty of comedy TV shows; Inbetweeners, peep show.. (I just checked and they are over 5 years since the last season ) although not as many comedies over recent years, they seem to have shifted towards comedy panel shows.
The old Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency is great, I havn't seen the new one yet, but it's had great reviews!
Unfortunatly I only get foreign shows on PBS. Not British but Janet king seems pretty good. its a legal drama from Australia.
Ever seen the Blood Sweat series from BBC? Pretty good. Brits going to third world countries to work alongside the locals so they will know where there clothes and food and coffee comes from. My favorite shows here include Shades of Blue, Lucifer, Goldbergs, Naked and Afraid, and that's about all.
