The spiral staircase thing in castles isn't true afaik. Nice story that sounds plausible but there are spiral stairs in both directions in castles iirc.
Scarce in the Norman period, but became more common after, apparently: http://www.castlestudiesgroup.org.uk/CSGJournal2011-12X5stairs.pdf
Lived most of my life in London. We have good public transport so it is entirely possible to never need to drive. I've never been able to afford a car, insurance etc anyway as well as my other pastimes.
I think the equivalent was radio...but podcasts give you infinitely more choice as to what you listen to, whether speech or music. The ability to stop and start, listen in sections, make them great for while travelling etc.
You mean what I haven't done? Surely if I haven't done it I can't be held accountable for it the way I would be if I HAD done it... ... what was I talking about again?
@Simon I have eaten peanut butter and curry... at the same time! Paneer tikka and crunchy peanut butter, mmmmm! I have never passed a GCSE maths exam, I have never been in trouble with the police.
That's cute coming from you, given what you have written here earlier Wait, that is worth mentioning? Never been there myself; I'm so boring nothing like that would happen. Well, unless you count the one time, where a friend a I ran away at night, were followed and had to explain, that we ran, because the friend of mine was under 16 and not allowed to be outside at the time :D
I mean, most of the people I know have at least one story, never serious trouble mostly just being stupid kids running from the police. To add, I've also never had a smartphone as my main phone!
