    yes i believe this is from the Wudang set of practices. Many of them performed by Wu Shu performance atheletes. Those guys are esentially top level gymnasts so they sure are flexible and strong!

    Wouldnt like to think what this sort of thinik is doing to the knee joints.

    Cheers

    ... poking around on the net (mostly ads for chinese wushu series vcds), all I've managed to clean so far is that it's a style of qigong and form practice that's closely associated with taoist practices taught at Wudang mountain in China.

    Here are two more taiyi videoclips I've found....

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqfEtouu1fQ"]Wudang Xuanmen Jian - YouTube[/ame]
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JQrTlDQBhs"]Taiyi Quan - Xuanwu Quan Set - YouTube[/ame]

    ... the music selected to accompany both clips surprises me somehow.

    That's really way too fast to be qigong, but he is very flexible. More like tongzi-gong or really hardcore stance work.

    The other stuff confirms what I've read that the martial arts of Wudang were really more in the Shaolin/Longfist vein than the Xingyi/Bagua one. The Xuanwu and Taiyi-quan definitely look Longfist-based.
