I am not going to agree on it as this was basically the topic of a thesis I spent some time with and read quite a few papers all basically finding the same. I won't write here the principles underlying this, because I largely forgot and don't have time to read into it now. I think what I wrote is the general consensus. In birds. Since I saw a few articles summarizing this about humans, I have no reason to think it is all made up. Just my view

Depends on the species of bird. Humans are considerably more inbred than most other species due to a genetic bottleneck that reduced our population to around 23,000 people sometime in prehistory. Although there are genetic trends within populations of humanity, these don't match up with our social concepts of race, such that Australian Aborigines, Samoans, and African peoples all might be called 'black' despite the fact that there is considerable more genetic variation and differentiation within that group than between others.
