Psych horror/ Martial Arts Movie Casting (UK)

Please Note, that this has NOTHING to do with me, so please DO NOT contact me about it.

Disclaimer: I've never met the man and do not know him or his Production Company, so don't blame me if it all falls on its bum...but I saw this and thought of YOU...

Words of advice, be Professional when applying and Read the Casting Call carefully before contacting them.

    Casting Call
'Ian Weeks and Sunomo Pictures are gearing up for a DV feature shoot set for
end of August, start of September and will last approximately 2 weeks. It
is hoped this will be headed for the worldwide festival circuit with a view
of a theatrical or straight-to-DVD release.

The film is a psychological horror/action movie - in the vein of
contemporary Japanese horror films - think 'Ring' (NOT the US remake!),
    'Dark Waters', 'Audition' etc.

    The following actors are required:

    1. Man, 22-28, martial arts experience (not a beginner)

    2. Woman, 24-28, some martial arts experience (beginner OK), or at least
    experienced in stage combat.

    3. Woman, 36-45, martial arts experience or at least experienced stage
    combat - especially sword-fighting technique.

    4. Man, 25-30, comedic character - 'dumb' bodyguard type.

    5. Man, 45 - 55, no fighting experience required, but is a 'Sensei'
character - this character will only be required in London.

This film will be quite physical - therefore take that into consideration
    when applying!

The production is self-funded, therefore is initially unpaid, however I
will be putting together deferred payment contracts for all involved.

The film will be shot in a little village in the Midlands
(Northamptonshire) and the schedule will require certain characters to
spend several days at a time at the location. All travelling expenses,
accomodation and meals will be covered. In addition, everyone will receive
a VHS or DVD of the finished production.'

If you are interested, please forward CV's and headshots to:

    Hey guys!

Has anyone responded to this call? The producer is looking for local talent, in the UK area. Since a large percentage of MAP members are in the UK, and since the project will be filmed in Northhamptonshire and in London, I just thought I'd surface this thread again: if you ever wanted to experience being a film MAist, this might be your chance.

Anyone responding? Let us all know how it turns out.

    Well said Capt. Ann,
precisely the reason I posted it.

I'd post others, as and when they come my way, if I felt that they were of worth and that folk would take advantage of them....

    Mushroom,
What Crewing jobs are you looking to do, on up-coming productions?
Are you specialising at present with your filmmaking in College, Ie camera, art direction etc etc?
    Which college are you attending?

I graduated this year at Westminster University doing Contemporary Media Practice, got a 2.2 would have been 2.1 but one of the other projects bombed and the lecturer who marked my dissertation didnt like it, even though loads of other lecturers did.
I'm trained in cinematography mainly 16mm, messed around with a bolex for a while and I used to be a storyboard artist in Hong Kong, still am actually :p

Right now looking for some jobs to do, got a couple for next year but thats really....next year - if you know what i mean.

Dr NinjaBellydance What is your pleasure sir

Hmmmm..... I'm still thinking about this one. Have some experience of SA/ extra work, but only in my spare time (as is the MA). It looks pretty cool, but it depends if I'm the kind of thing they're after I guess. Also, I'm presenting at a conference in Glasgow 4-6 Sept, which might clash....*consider*...
