    I'm a gal...keep that in mind :D . I was at a tournament so obviously couldn't ice it right away  .

It didn't hurt at the time but now it hurts to sit down...just the pressure of my jeans is painful. I can handle the pain but I'd like it to heal as quickly as possible (obviously). Does anyone know an effective solution for such a sensitive area?

    Thanks!

I would recommend going to see a doctor ASAP, especially if just wearing pants causes pain.

By pass traditional medicine and seek professional help now.

I fully agree with Mad Monk. If you're injured to the point that even a thing as simple as having jeans on hurts you, something may be seriously wrong. Go see a doctor now.

And while any injury can be serious, I am not joking when I say that anything that causes bruising and swelling to you genitalia should be taken extremely seriously.

    Get to a doctor now.

    See a doctor S.A.P.!!!

I was hit with a stick in my groin/vagina once and it droped me in tremendious pain!! (on the ground for quite a while  ).I had swelling and pain for a few days and it hurt to walk, but only lasted 3 4 days
    thank God!!

What scares me is you first posted this injury this year may 2nd and here it is june 14.So you still have pain after (45 DAYS) AFTER THE INJURY and not yet seen a doctor?I don't know but maybe you chiped your pubic bone? But see a doctor S.A.P. :bang:

She seemed to have posted on june 12th. Or maybe there's another thread that i missed. oh well.

    There's two solutions :

    1) Get to a doctor.

    Or

    2) Don't wear jeans :D

Either way is fine by me :p

(Seriously, go see a doc, either he'll say you'll be ok in a few days (then you'll stop worrying, so that's all good) or if there's anything wrong, then it's a good thing you saw him, so yeah, just see a doc.)

Thanks for the replies. I agree I should probably be seen but to be honest I probably won't  . I just can't stand the thought of paying him to tell me to go home and ice it (or whatever).

Gasg, I'm not worried about it, I was just hoping to reduce healing time if at all possible. I was kicked in the groin about 6 months ago by a 300lb man; it was FAR worse then (I couldn't wear jeans not because of the pain but because of the swelling). Healing took over two weeks; if it would have persisted I would have contacted my dr. Hindsight says I should have gone in, I had a hard time walking for a few days (sitting wasn't an option).

RedDawn, yup, it's only been about 5 days and it's feeling better than it did. The swelling is down and it doesn't hurt as much. I'm 99.9% sure it's just tissue trauma, no bone involvement. It doesn't hurt to walk either so I don't think there's any pubic bone damage (having given birth to 5 kids I KNOW what pubic bone pain feels like  ). :D

I appreciate the advice and concern though. Honestly, if it lasts much longer I'll go in. I actually have something else nonrelated that is even more of a concern and if IT persists I'll be seeing my doc anyway.

Thanks All (and sorry to be stubborn  ).

    Kelly

P.S. Just so you know I respect your counsel and I'm not disregarding it  . I've taken what you've said into serious consideration (and I still am).

Just another small advice, have you considered wearing a women cup? You sound like you get hit there 'regularly'.

And another advice, train to block those kicks better ;)

    Give me a break.

You get kicked in the taco and then post about it and when people post what is common sense.... eg.... go see the doc...

    You post you probably won't.

    Not real smart.
You could have something going wrong down there that you don't know about. It's worth an Xray... and possibly and MRI. Chance it and wait and things could get complicated and far more expensive to deal with.

Be smart - go see a doc. :)

what gets me about this is that an obvious candidate for the darwin awards has already spit out 5 puppies.... why is it always the slow ones who multiply so fast?

and why are they usually religious zealots or have an IQ less than 80? oh, wait a minute... both groups have trouble with science and doubt modern approaches to problems....

this kind of crap is the result

Take a chill pill dude. Are you trying to say that you have never done something that others would consider stupid? And what is it with your attacking religious people?

    slipthejab,

Foot the bill and I'll go :woo: .

MRI: $2000 (I've had 2 of these I know how much they cost)
    x-ray: $70/x-ray
    Office fee: $10 co-pay

Those are my out of pocket expenses WITH insurance  .

I had no idea anyone would recommend I see the dr. Honestly, I thought someone would suggest an herbal soak or something. I didn't think it was the "common sense" thing to do since swelling/bruising doesn't strike me as a serious injury. The pelvis is the strongest bone in the human body and it's extremely unlikely that it's chipped or broken (especially since I was kicked by a 110 lb gal...she wasn't exactly The Hulk).

Why is there several people here that think I posted in May? I posted June 12th. It has only been 5 days.

I've also wondered about a female "cup" (this is actually the third time I've been kicked there). LOL, I'm learning to block better though  . I was curious about how comfortable or not it is too.

I'm sorry I posted a concern that seems to have an obvious solution but I haven't found that drs have good solutions most of the time (I've been to the dr more in the last 2 1/2 years than most people go in a lifetime). Hence my post on the traditional healing forum. I assumed someone somewhere must have had a similar injury (it seems to be a common injury among the people I know in MA) and might have some suggestions to promote healing.

I have more things to think about financially than a bruised groin (anyone catch the 5 kids part :D ). I can't afford to go in "to get things checked out"; that's just the way it is. If it were life threatening or seriously impeding my ability to function I wouldn't hesitate but it's neither. Maybe someday I'll have that luxury :) .

I didn't want to have to share so much personal info but I feel I'm being viewed as ignorant and irresponsible; I'm neither :) .

I do understand the concern though and like I said I appreciate it very much  .

    You thought wrong .

Yes your post was removed by a TM. But I put it back so that Kelly can now see your response and that (yes someone did catch the 5 kids part)

I found your post insensitive (as I am sure Ms Owens will) as well as in violation of MAP TOS.

Instead of making a habit of reporting others' behaviours ... why don't you concentrate on your own for a few days :)

AND Kelly .... do wear a female groin protector in the future

On the subject of comfort and groin protectors Kelly, just so you know, the male cup is no picnic either. Still if you're going to spar... well you know the rest of what I was going to say I'm sure.

I do hope you make a speedy recovery and, maybe somebody should mention to your classmates, etc., that the groin is not a legal target in TKD sparring? :D

Had some pain in that region as well. Turned out to be an inguinal hernia; a part of my guts stuck in a hole in my pelvis. I'm still waiting for surgery to get that fixed.

Although I think it can only happen to guys (as the hole, which usually closes, is there to permit the gonads to go into the scrotum), if I were you I'd go see a doctor first thing, especially if there is swelling. No need in getting XRayed, MRIed or whatever if you don't get a good doctor's opinion first.

Personally, I haven't got any confort problem with wearing a cup; I forget it's there after 3 minutes. While it isn't necessary (never seen anyone getting hit there during out training, even with the sparring) in our classes, it helps by pushing the hernia back inside. It also help me feel safer. If it's not confortable, probably you should look for another one.

Note: We've got lawyers, veterans, fighters/commentators, trainers... Why don't we have any physician on MAP?

    *EDIT:
Ahhhh, the joys of having a national health system. Although I am still waiting after 6 months for my surgery.

If you think THAT is costly, I wonder how costly it could become if you don't get it checked...

kmguy8, take a deep breath and relax...you always seem so tense and angry in your posts :p . No need to get personal either, LOL, thankfully my pups inherited their dad's intellect and my 10 year old, who has her own business, will be doing 8th grade math next year. My 8.5 year old is TKD state champ in his division and will be starting his own business in October to help pay for his black belt when the time comes, my 7 year old learned to read when she was 3 and my 5 year old could work circles around most grown men. My 3 year old is learning to read and is musically and artistically inclined. Oh and I have an IQ of 126 :D . I know you don't actually care but I'm proud of my kids and have no insecurities or lack of confidance as a person  .

We're also not "religious zealots" nor do we "have trouble with science" or "doubt modern approaches to problems". I see drs and take medications regularly for ongoing medical issues (hence my lack of desire to pay for MORE medical bills due to bruised labia). LOL, they know me by my voice at my dr's office

Thank you Kickchick for giving me the opportunity to reply :) . I do agree, his post was insensitive but such is life  :D .

Well, I think I've gotten the only perspective I'm going to get so I'll take what I've got and bow out :D .

Cheers to you all and thank you!
