In Goju systems, there is a concept of "kaishu" kata. Many goju websites translate Kaishu to mean open hand.

Is there anyone on this forum that can provide the Japanese characters, (or a link) that shows kaishu to translate as "open hand" in Japanese?

The common translators on the net do not show "open hand" as a definition for Kaishu.

    Many thanks.

    Just a guess...I'm not a karate guy

    Could it be 開手 ?

    Literally open hand (kai shu)

Thank you so much. I have searched for hours in Japanese translators. I did not know that the character for te had an alternate pronunciation.
