Just for fun... Do you think the Batman movies should've used Aikido?

Oh I don't know, I think the batman guys could make it look good, with their philosophy of "If there's a bad guy there and batman can just punch him in the face, he'll punch him in the face!!" That's pretty much aikido no? (or any art in practice really) I could imagine some lovely irimi tsukis and the like...

Coming to think of it I can't really think of any films that use aikido, even in a terrible movie-fu way?... It seems that moves crop up every now and then within the ju-jutsu moveset, (Ie. Bourne films, which have some nice fight scenes) but nothing really aikido dedicated, unless you count S****n S****l, but usually he's just doing slapsies or something...

Just as a point of information, the Bourne films used Filipino Martial Arts, not ju-jutsu. But your point still stands!

Think Batman should be an all-around bad dude. So yeah, Aikido, Jujitsu, Kickboxing, Wrestling, he should know a bit of everything. Nothing like throwing the Joker head first into a Volkswagan Beetle or something to get the point across.

In the comics didn't Bruce Wayne spend something like 7 years away learning a variety of styles? They've shot themselves in the foot a little bit for focusing on the KFM, they'd have to introduce a new style specifically (though everyone loves a montage!) if they were to use something else now.

In some of the comics he has studied every fighting style in every country. Obviously that training occurred over a long period of time. The way I remember it, in one version of the story his initial training was ninjutsu, taken in Japan. In another version of the story he started in boxing and judo.

    Akido
    judo
    FMA's
    JJJ
    Brazillian street fighting??

Didn't he disapear from the age of 16 and come back like 30 all hardcore and stuff? (nightfall part 1)

'Year one' shows him throw some pretty impressive nugatai (sp?) shots
