Anyone trained with him? Seems he learned some secrets off a Shaolin disciple and then combined them with RBSD.The name seems vaguely familiar and I think he used to have a column in a martial arts mag.

All the top guys seem to endorse him, including Geoff Thompson,so he must be the real deal. Was Geoff's movie "Clubbed" based on his life story?

The whole studying secrets under the guidance of a Shaolin disciple angel is immediately suspect... screams absolute BS. The sensationalist style hard-sell of his site doesn't inspire further confidence either... but then you scroll down and see what is apparently an endorsement by Geoff Thompson... huh.

    Here is his website:

    His certs etc:

Wasn't Clubbed inspired by Geoff's own life?

But it's a quote and without knowing the context of the quote it could be for anything MA related.

That site has pretty much everything I dislike about RBSD and commercialisation of MA.

The one thing I hate about these site is the fact that they are sold on fear.

    Big bold red headlines.

“Learn The Most Devastatingly Effective Street Fight Moves That End Fights In Your Favour…Every Single Time”

Certain words or phrases highlighted in yellow, they are all the same.

Look at some of the claims.

    • How to short circuit a street thugs head and completely overwhelm his nervous system… he’ll be writhing in pain before he even has a chance to shout for his mates!
    • A really nasty instant pain to the brain attack which requires no practice at all and works better the bigger they are, he’ll almost always give up instantly when you apply this move!
    • The “revving technique” that’s as easy to apply as making a cup of tea… its so easy even my little girl could drop an attacker to the floor like a sack of potatoes with this (works on any size attacker)

    More bold text.

Master These Easy To Learn Devastatingly Effective Fight Moves Practically OVERNIGHT!

“The Most Proven Fighting Tactics Known To Man”

Now the instructor might be legitimate, have a proven pedigree, but there is so much that is lacking in my opinion.

Take someone like JWT. He makes sure his self defence instructors understand the law, first aid, habitual acts of vioence, the human rights act and so on.

No sign of that on this type of site, it is all about attack and devastating moves. We could all teach something similar and without the fancy sell.

My beef is not with the instructor, but it is definately with this type of site.

Clubb comes across as a fairly pleasant guy but that is where it ends for me.If I am to part with hard earned cash I would sooner spend it with Steve Morris any day.Why buy a Ford when you can have a Ferrari for the same price?

    Well colour me surprised.
I've conversed quite a bit with Jamie a few years ago (we were both on a forum called Cyberkwoon for awhile).
He's a very knowledgable guy, very serious about his martial arts and very "cerebral" about what he does. Very skeptically minded and always questioning (which I appreciate).
He's certified by Geoff Thompson and Mo Teague and well respected by other martial artists I respect myself (Iain Abernethy and Peter Consterdine for example).
He's, to my mind, doing some of the best martial arts aimed at kids and anti-bullying out there.
Which is why I find the site that was linked too such a surprise because it doesn't gel with what I know of Jamie and what he's been involved with in the past.
He would be one of the people I would have put money on not being involved with one of these websites.

I have a theory that Jamie has embarked on this venture with all the right motives (and the content will be worth seeing) but is probably face-palming when he reads that site and the sort of marketing it's using.
I may be wrong but it seems very out of character to me.
Perhaps it's like when an author writes a book that they've put their heart and soul into and then sees that book on the shelves with an awful cover and some crass marketing blurb they don't agree with?
Because they don't control that side of things?

You might well be right.Going on his other clips he dosen't seem to be the kind of guy who would promote himself as a hard case.

Shaolin disciple? I am surprised they didn't get him to change his name to Kwai Chang Clubb.:)

This the the guy who owns the advertising site and I presume, wrote the advert.

In all fairness to him its seems to be a free clip aimed at beginners.

I did look at his site as I was interested in doing the BTEC Level 3 in self defence so I agree with PA Smith, Jamie has got some credible qualifications from some quality people who know their stuff. Jamie also produced a number of good videos on cross training.
A friend asked me about an anti bullying programme, I dont really know anything about instructing in this subject. (I believe the subject is very specialized) so I pointed him to a few instructors including Jamie and he said that his was one of the best programmes he has seen.
I watched the clip on the rapid self defence website supplied by Putrid. and with respect to Jamie acting the hard man, it didt come across very well.Jamie came across as more nervous than the victim he was trying to intimidate and if you havnt got that hard edge up bringing, fake swearing looks what it and doesn’t covey the right feeling.
I have dealt with an aggressive individuals asking me to cross over the line while they are moving back but they are moving back under their own steam because there is no fight in them. Aggressively intentioned individuals are really in your face ala the famous youtube clip. Which I have posted here to jog memories!!
Although to get the complete context of Jamies clip I would have liked to see how it finished.

It’s a shame because I understand he is a great guy with great honest intentions maybe this has been badly handled.

Why are their hands down? Why are they holding the pads so far out? Why isn't the Instructor correcting their terrible posture? Or at least correcting themselves?

If Jamie Clubb wants to be taken seriously as an expert on anti-bullying he should keep well away from this kind of crap.At the moment he probably is a good role model for kids and going on his clips seems to be good at teaching kids. But that could all change when parents and employers see him associated with this kind of alarmist nonsense.

What about the guy on the left in clip 1 spending a lot of time with his hands down the front of his pants! At least, it should have been re-shot.

The best part about Youtube is the comment section. The first comment on this video is, "And I shall close your gate." The Internet is full of smart asses. :)
