    Hi all,
I returned from a trip to Japan about 5 months ago, where I trained at the Aunkai dojo. It was quite insightful, and I wish to continue training it here in backwater Western Australia.

My current training partner is a little too busy to train with me anymore, so I need a new partner! The partnered exercises are a very important aspect of Aunkai. Are there any IMA people from Perth around here?

Never heard of Aunkai - care to give some details of this art?

The website can probably explain it better than I can.

The bujutsu class section goes into more detail.

I guess its kind of like Yiquan, where instead of learning martial techniques the focus is on developing internal strength.

I like it because there is a nice practical atmosphere. Explanations are very physical, such as the alignment of the spine, or position of the shoulders. They also have sparring and grappling/randori sessions as well, which is a huge plus for me. Another plus is the fact that all the students have the skills you'd usually want to attain while doing this kind of stuff, as opposed to only the teacher.

I've only had two weeks in it, so I can't really speak much more about the subject. But as far as I know, there aren't any Aunkai people on this forum, so I'll try and answer your questions =/

We've got a training group for taiji under the heaven man earth lineage in Perth if you're interested to come have a look and see if it is something you would enjoy.

Sifu comes twice a year to refine our form and give us more to work on in push hands etc. Next seminar is in September.

Our training group meets every weekend and we're training saturday and sundays now south of the river near Murdoch Uni.

Thanks. Is there a website (not the official one, but the one for Murdoch) that I can look at? And who teaches?

Nil, there is no website for the Perth group. I am currently the most experienced in the Perth group and there is no instructor over here.

However, I am ahead of everyone else in the group as I have been training for 2-3 years so I assist in correcting form/structure and principles for now.

The rest of the group did the last seminar in May and are working on the stuff they have been given. If you join the 2nd seminar, it still ok to catch up as the rest of the group aren't ahead by much.

What is your email? maybe I can drop you my mobile number there if you want to find out more on the address etc.
