Hi, i never really been interested in boxing, but i been watching it recently, and i wonder... WHY DO THEY DROP THEIR GUARD!? they keep their hands sometimes at waiste level, i saw ali do that ( i only seen one of his fights). I know boxers can slip punches like mad, are there any other resons to this? Please feel free to correct me.
Most probably to draw the opponent into throwing a punch, so that they can counter. Also to give the shoulders a bit of rest - it can get a bit tiring keeping a tight guard for ages.
Cool. One of the main things that startled me after watching my first pro boxing match is how quick those guys are! Its near impossible to land a punch without them slipping or something! Anyways, thanks for the info. Did hatton win his fight (has it even happened yet?)
