Oh OK GJJ Gracie JJ now i can post. JJ has had such an influence on MA around the world because of the gracie family. is GJJ still effective in the ring / Cage: Yes because if you dont have some kinda ground skills or counters to take downs you will be stung Have trainers found a way to defeat GJJ: Yes by learning GJJ or a similar Ground fighting style Is GJJ still on top of the game since UFC 1: No but a mix of grappling styles still are, not saying that grapplers win all the time Do you feel it is necassary to Cross Train w/ JJ: Yes Yes Yes Yes or atleast a similar style.
I personally don't like it at all. I think it foucoses on the ground too much for my taste. In the ring, one on one, it seems nicely rounded for that. But that was what GJJ was brought in for. As far as I know ( I could be wrong, it has happened B4) the Gracies funded the first 3 UFCs to bring their art into the open. Which in its self is brilliant since they crushed all commers in the first one. Just my $0.02 ..again Later...
