girls and sparring

I have a thought. Almost all the athletic records (track, football, whatever) have proved that generally, men are stronger and faster. In sparring people may get hurt. Why not go easier on females?

Scarlet Mist: We should have control when we are sparring, regardless of the persons gender. Judge your sparring partners individually. If you are partnered against five guys and five girls in a given week. There is a good chance that one of the females is toughter than one of those males. There is no reason that you should take it easier on that female then you did on the less tough male. Judge each partner individually, try not to take gender into account. It will just **** some women off, and give them a chip on our shoulder....Some females do need to be handled with kid gloves, Ive had to do so myself...but many do not. Just remember that.

Well if I'm sparring a girl that's better than I am, I obviously cant slack my defence or she'll kill me. But even if she is really good, chances are (I say chances because I'm referring to the majority of situations) she can't take a shot in the stomach as well as a guy could.

 

believe it or not, yes she could. i've seen it with my own eyes. you have to understand that all people who train martial arts are not good at it. some of them are excellent, some of them are average, some of them suck, but they still continue training because of the work-out and they might learn something in time. when we started sparring i was the craziest girl in the group. nobody could win me, neither girls nor boys. my instructor started pairing me up with black belts when i was green. i loved it. of course they were better than me, they were more experinced but soon afterwards i started competing and started gaining that experience myself. so PLEASEEEEE don't make this a girl or guy thing. i might get very angry and then i'm not a very nice person

Umm, I think you are misunderstanding me. My point is that ON AVERAGE, GENERALLY, IN MORE CASES, a woman is not as able to take shots as men are. Seriously, come on now, men develop more muscle, and are bigger on average. This however is not to say that there aren't any huge, muscular women in the world. My point is, this, if you are sparring a woman, it is very possible that she will be able to tolerate less force than a man. There are exceptions of course.

 

What women lack in physical strength, they more than make up for it in mental ability ....

Oh, and one more thing.....
It's common knowledge to most women (we try not to let you guys in on it) when sparring someone stronger, you use the laws of physics: Topple him with his own force !!

While I strongly disagree with what you are saying I will not say a thing as I am really, really, really, really scared of you.

 

I hate the Man/Woman issue. Why cant we disregard it and really just base how hard we spar on each sparring partner? I know I can take a hell of a punch, but probably not as much of a punch as the 6ft tall 230 pound guy with the beer as hard as a rock. But I also think I can take more of a punch than some of the other guys in my class... you really need to judge on an individual level...and just so you know...posting on a thread like this in that way will not score you many points with the lady folk of the martial arts community. And you seem to like the idea of a woman in karate gear, so watch what you say .

 

Scarlet, you are correct to be afraid of KC. She can hurt you ! Actually I agree with her. On the whole, I think women are smarter than men cough **suckup** cough and use their mind as efficiently as their body...........that sounded kinda dirty didn't it.....

See, I refuse to spar "boys" as I'm afraid I'll hurt them .... but I'll spar a "man" any day.

I think you misunderstood me, Shotokan warrior, I said ... not as well as a guy could, meaning, there a more guys than women who can take a hard shot to the stomach.


And Tika, I don't judge opponents based on their gender, I judge them based on how hard they can hit me, and in my experience (although limited), the men have hit harder than the women.

It also seems that I inspire women to violence against me ... I spent the last couple of years being chased and punched and kicked by women ... but little do they know :yeleyes:
