Just thinking about police restraining people high on meth and stuff. Wouldn't choking them with a cheese wire be very efficient and would render them unconscious much easier than choking them out with your arms. Downsides would be that they look worse, leave bruising, and ill training could lead to deaths. Seems safer than a taster, what do you guys think?
Cheese wire will cut the flesh, and potentially sever an artery. It would also cause huge public outcry. Especially when they inevitably apply it on an innocent person.
Give them carrots, the art of Ninjinjutsu* is very effective at startling perps. *techniques for inserting a carrot into your opponent.
Tazer I assume you mean and the answer is no, it wouldn't be A garotte is designed to kill; not incapacitate or render unconcious, but kill. There is enough of a outcry about a sfae technique like an RNC or an LVNR being applied so the chances of a "service issued carotid restraint device' being accepted is zero
Even with really GOOD training it would still lead to deaths. There have been many cases of people dying in police custody due to being restrained badly by policemen. Imagine the death rate from trying to garrotte people to render them unconscious. You might as well just try to restrain them by shooting them. If this is a serious suggestion then it's so bad as to be almost comical. So.... did it come from Michael Gove?
Use of force for the police generally goes like this: You shot him? Why didn't you use the taser? - excessive force questions You used the taser? Why didn't you use the baton? - excessive force questions You used the baton? Why didn't you use your hands? - excessive force questions You used your hands? How come he got hurt so badly? - excessive force questions You would literally just be adding another step to that and the ridiculous misunderstandings the public already have over what is reasonable and necessary force for law enforcement.
i would have thought choking someone with a rubber bullet would instantly constitute excessive force, though
Why use a garrote when a police officer has a baton. You can employ chokes just as efficiently while being able to release the choke much quicker if necessary.
My thinking was that they are much harder to resist against because your fingers can't really grab onto them.
You generally have two officers though. One to hold, one to choke. Idk. I'd prefer every officer was a purple belt in BJJ tbh.
As opposed to....? Wrestling offers control and transition to cuffing better from my experience - BJJ is perfectly valid and works hellishly well too though
