I've just started ITF TKD this weekend gone. I'm really into the training, and I've been told by the teacher that I've got a great attitude, and that I will go far.
I did two back to back classes on saturday, and I'm picking up the general patterns and techniques fairly quickly.

I was told after the class that there is a competition coming up in June, and that if I'm interested I should compete. Technically I'm still a white belt in TKD, but the instructor seems to think, that I can grade as soon as I'm ready in his eyes, so I'm hoping to be able to advance up the chain before the comp.

What can I expect at a first competition like this ? I'm sure it's going to be tough, so any advancement, I'm going to see as a bonus :)
Any tips in terms of training (i.e in the gym), which can help my chances ?
