I'm generally a fan of anything progressive: porcupine tree (almost metal), dream theater (mostly metal), opeth (used to be metal), gojira (still metal), cryptopsy (definitely metal before lord worm left). I also love a bit of death metal: dying fetus and nile are awesome to work out to
