I'm sure he's learned "moves" during filming, but I doubt he's an actual ninja.

Fight scenes in movies are handled by fight choreographers. Much of this is planned out in connection with the cinematographers and director. Often times it is the fight choreographer that is training the actors in the skills they need to look like they know what they are doing for a particular film, or particular scenes within a film.

Whether Luke Goss actually trained, or is still training, I do not know.

However, movies like to hype this kind of stuff to draw bigger crowds. Actor so and so had real training in the MA, come see this movie or buy / rent this DVD. Also, even the most basic flips you see him do are going to require a whole host of conditions be met in the way of filming and insurance guidelines, and considerably more so if a stunt double is not used.

Mania: The role called for a great deal of fighting and physical work. Tell us about the training that went into the role and how much of your own stunts did you do?

Luke Goss: Nine weeks of training – and the thing is, the same as Blade 2, to try and do as much as you can. The least you can do is to at least try and contribute. I can't put an exact figure on it, but I feel as if I contributed enough, and it's the way I always approach those kind of roles.
