To know that you know nothing is the beginning of wisdom. Those who speak don't know, those who know don't speak. I'd better shut up, cos I think I know nothing!
"To gain knowledge add something, to gain wisdom take something away" #1 is wisdom #2 is knowledge #3 is truth
1. To know nothing is complete ignorance (and ignorance is bliss) 2. To know every thing is complete knowledge of all things (and freaking boring) 3. To be you is being stubborn. 4. To keep things/life simple is wise. But what is wise? In my opinion it is wise not to jump of a 100 feet clif and to keep things/life simple is wise. And many other things are wise too.
But how do you know that what you think you know is true? Because if you think you know something but it isn't true you don't realy know. One stupid example: If you think that the world is flat, you know the world is flat. But the world isn't flat so you don't realy know. So what you know isn't true. And that is not wise in my opinion. Oke, this is confusing.
But I would know that I couldn't prove the world was flat, so I would know where the limits of my factual knowledge lay.
But the knowledge that the world is round isn't really nessecary for 99% of the people in the world, unless you are planning to travel very long distances or actually leave the earth. You could live a full life and make many 'wise' decisions that relate to you and the things around you, without ever knowing the world is round. The acumulation of knowledge that doesn't relate to you or help you, now that isn't wise.
Knowledge is having information be it true or not. Wisdom is being able to use that knowledge in the best ways. Mev.
True! It is just that many things are wise and many things are not wise. First we need to know what wisdom is, then you can say what is wise and what isn't. But I think that point 2 (to know everything) is wise or wisdom. Because if you know every thing you know what wisdom is and what is wise and what not. So you got wisdom and can make wise desisions.
wisdom i think true wisdom lies not with knowledge but with experience. for example, if i were to make an important decision i would make it based on knowledge AND experience, therefore experience is an important part of wisdom. also, a major component is self awareness(diferent from "being yourself"). self awareness lies in knowing what you can do, what you can't, what u want to do, and what you shouldn't and why. what do you guys think? take care all, _kickass
To Jerry Ortiz y Pino, wisdom is "the ability to make sound choices, good decisions. The best decision. Wisdom is intelligence shaped by experience. Information softened by understanding." I like that defenition. Mev.
True again ! But I didn't say that you are wise but you are able to make wise desisions. And we human can't understand what all knowing is. We don't even know what the boy two streets furter tells his father what he did at school today. But if you are all knowing you know what every body did at school today. you know of 80 million people what they did at school today. You must go insane if you know every thing. So it isn't wise to know every thing . So I stick to my first post on this topic.
