I find this clip. There are some interested moves. Your thought?

It's a nice bit of theatre, and possibly the first time I have seen a (presumably) Chinese video of Chinese wrestling featuring women doing it.

Nice clip. thank-you for sharing. I have added it to my collection.

something occurred to me while looking at it. Most of my standing grappling is from a no gi / T shirt perspective. although I have done some standing jujitsu in a gi the style I did did not place much emphasis on clothing grips. I have recently started playing judo. which is heavily grip dependent.

You know who. I noticed that the jacket ends above the elbow, hence elbow or fore arm sleeve clothing grips are not possible.

in your opinion how does this affect the way that Chinese wresting approaches grappling?

    - When you control your opponent's wrist of fore arm, since his elbow is still free, you don't have full control on his arm. This will force you to pass the "wrist gate" and enter the "elbow gate". In no jacket environment, this will be transferred into "arm wrap" and not just "wrist control".

    - Also the upper arm control will force your body to be closer to your opponent's body, this will make your throw more effective and giving less space for your opponent's body to move around.

Here is an "arm wrap" used in no jacket environment.

Besides to show that "girl can fight", in that clip, I like the following:

    1. strength training - At 1.00 the belt cracking. I do that 360 times every other day. It can give me a great workout.
    2. follow up - At 3.30, a hip throw followed by a side mount that can link the throw and ground game nicely.
    3. mobility - At 4.26, the 1 against 2 training.
    4. combo - At 6.23, since her opponent resists, she chance a forward "hip throw" into a backward "front cut"
    5. counter - At 6.37, He uses "leg block" to counter her "front cut".
    6. ...

    More 1 against many clips.

As wrist / forearm clothing grips are not possible given the cut of the uniform. Does this mean that you do not train techniques for striping such grips / or counters against openings that begin with such grips ?

I like the belt cracking alot.

are there particular forms/patterns that particularly feature belt cracking?

I notice that the belts worn and used are karate/judo style belts rather than sashes. Is this traditional for Chinese wrestling? or historically would a sash or piece of rope have been used instead?

The wrist grip along with the counters are trained. You always twist your arm against your opponent's thumb (1 finger) to break apart the wrist grip.

There are many different kind of belt cracking exercise.

    - shoulder throw,
    - embracing throw,
    - foot sweep,
    - front cut,
    - wheeling step,
    - leg lift,
    - stick kick, leg block,
    - hip throw,
    - ...

The Taiwan police university has both Chinese wrestling and Judo as 4 years courses. At the end of the 4 years, all Judo guys would need to take a black belt test. That was why the belt system is also used in Chinese wrestling. The highest rank is the blue-white-red (10th degree).
