British fighters?

Who do we have?

The Brazilians, the Dutch, the Russians, the Yanks, the Canadians, the Japanese, the Chinese, the Ozzies, the NZers, even the French... they're all out there in UFC, K1, Pride and whatever other top fighting venues... who do us Brits have (and please don't mention that Colossus pudding James whatever his name is! :bang: )?

And since we don't seem to have anybody can anyone tell me why?

We've had more than our fair share of Martial Arts, the infamous purring, Lancashire, Cumberland, Cornish wrestling (the origins of catch wrestling), mean archers, a distinctive and successful sword style or two, a reputation for headbutting, a distinct eponymous bare-knuckle style, a fair share of conquering armies and no shortage of martial arts freaks, hooligans on the terraces or thugs who like a rumble on a Saturday night... why don't we produce any good international fighters?

I'm thinking it could be partly laws against that kind of competition, but I heard they'd been relaxed...?

They have the UFC, we have Millwall FC...I know who I think is harder.

 

Why go into a cage to fight to show the world how hard you are, when you can just go out in Newcastle on a Saturday night?

 

Ricky Hatton is an amazing boxer.

Bisping is a great MMA fighter.

Thats about it really. Sorry, but England sucks at all sports.

I've got to disagree with you there mate. We produce far more good boxers per head of population than any other country. Always have.

Lets not forget Matt Skelton and Joe Calzaghe, both are great boxers.

Matt Skelton has also been a world champion kickboxer and has been in more than a few K1 fights.

 

Off the top of my head I can also add Mark Weir, Ian Freeman and Sol Gilbert.
