passed by the other day and noticed the space is now empty. is it closed? or moved? just wondering. even though i never trained there, i think it's a shame if closed. more options for chicago martial artists are always a good thing. plus i know via interaction with kevin through this site, he's very dedicated to the art and history of hapkido.
My trouble with buildings is... Hey Giovanni, We are moving to a new building...I have had two dojang full time so far in Chicago. The first building was above a medical storage warehouse. It, like Chicago, had two seasons...hot and hotter. It was an old building that in the summer was very hot and humid...but lots of windows...but in the winter it was hotter...it was heated by an old giant boiler and we could not control the heat...so it was about 105 in the winter as well...even with all the windows open... Second dojang, the one you know...was in a good location...but the building was 100 years old. I figured it would have a few problems, but they could be fixed...well, $265,000 in rent and 6 years later, the landlord did not want to address anything and I was getting sick of it. We had 900 sq ft of black mold removed from the ceiling and walls...and he would not do comprehensive repairs to the roof. We reached compromise, and he would do a bunch of work if I put up a good chunk of money...$20,000 - I trusted him and did...16 weeks later...no repair...so its time to move... We have found a 4 year old building, I am buying this one...I'll send out the grand opening announcement in a few days... Please feel free to come by!
love the video on the site, btw. i hate walking there at night, i'm always walking on the other side of the street, on the 7-11 side instead of the walgreen's side, because of the way the train trestle interacts with the alleys on the east side of wolcott.
I looked at the video too. It was very well put together from a production standpoint. I do think the instructor standing around in the blue dobok could spend some time on the treadmill though.
Yep...I'm glad i lost that 55lbs...not on a treadmill...better eating and more training...let me know when and if you ever produce anything we can all see...
Looks really interesting. Forgot I had the volume up on my PC here at work so I'm sure someone thinks I was watching 70's porn, lol but other than that
Many thanks CZ, but in reality more fun than difficult...now its time to get back to the heavy lifting and see how much I can get out of that!
