o, ok, i will get a barbell as fast as possible, i will be saving money, but in the meantime while i am saving money for the barbell, what exercise could replace deep squats until i get a barbell
It's better you start with heavy, wide squats because they prepare you for the more split-specific exercises. But, you could dumbbell overhead presses in a sumo stance that gets wider and lower.
The trick is to lower your hips with each descent of the dumbbell. Open up your stance when you can get your hips parallel with your knees. Being unable to reach parallel after a few workouts is a sign you need to up the weight. You're aiming to increase your flexibility, not build massive shoulder strength, so keep the weight moderate and the reps around 8-10 per set.
I agree with Van Zandt. I am currently doing deep squats at 160Kg and its definitely help flexibility!
I have heard you mention squats for flexibility before. Can you do them on machines or does it need to be free weights? And (this is probably a dumb question- forgive me) would leg presses work similarly or does it need to be squats specifically? I mean the leg press machine where you move you body up - not the one where the leg press moves the legs down. So it is sort of squatish.
Tricking is acrobatic routines with a martial arts style flavor. Think - those gymnastics floor routines, but with some fancy spinning jumping kicks mixed in. The martial arts moves in a tricking routine are very fancy and take a lot of skill to develop, but for the most part have no practical fighting applications. If you do a search for it here on MAP, you will find other threads with youtube routines of tricking embedded in them.
