The Baltimore Zen Center is proud to announce the kick-off of its new 2009 monthly retreat season.

We will have two day retreats offered each month this year, one 8 hour retreat, and one 4 hour retreat. The retreats will take place in the Dharma Hall at 覺皇寺/각황사/Gakhwangsa, the Temple of the Enlightened King, just outside Baltimore near Arundel Mills & Fort Meade.

The retreats will focus on sitting meditation, in 50 minute sessions, separated by walking meditation & discussion. Basic kigong (breath work) will also be introduced to help practitioners keep their body limber & relaxed during sitting sessions. Kongan (koan) will be introduced to those who wish to further their practice. A small meal will be provided during mid-day.

The first day retreat will be January 17th, 2009.

A freewill donation of $30 to cover expenses is requested, but not required.

The retreats will be lead by JB MuSsang Jaeger, who is a lay disciple of the Reverend Pohwa-seunim, of the Blue Mountain Sangha & World Zen Fellowship. Mr. Jaeger has lectured on Seon (Korean Zen) at the University of Maryland Baltimore County and has been a guest commentator on the Ed Norris Show. He is the only American to be licensed as an instructor of Cheolryun Gwonbeop, Iron Wheel Boxing, a Korean Buddhist martial art and has travelled across the US to teach seminars in martial arts and Zen meditation.

For any questions, please call the Center at (410)-353-2387 or e-mail at bmorezen108@hotmail.com

We look forward to seeing you in the new year!
