    I'm very happy!

Today my Master was teaching the noon class. He made us practice kicking combinations and then techniques.

Well I've been practicing my techniques for awhile. And today my Master wanted to oversee my techniques.

I performed all 10 of my techniques. He was very pleased.

He walked to his office took out the stripe tape.

He put it on my belt, told me very good, I said thank you, we shook hands, and now I have my yellow stripe!

Now I'm only 2 stripes away from testing for my yellow belt.

I don't know how long it will take to get my next 2 stripes, but I'm ready to wait, and practice throughly.

    Yeah! :)  :)

    Thank you. :)

I look forward to learning more, gaining more wisdom and all the other benefits from martial arts.

I don't even find it boring when I practice the same stuff over and over. I just fell it's perfecting myself, and making myself better.

  9. And one day you may not be a noobie :)

    Congrats on your advancement...

    That's a great attitude.

We practice the basics endlessly, every class. If you follow that approach, all of your techniques will improve and you'll find them easier to execute. Just remember, even the complex techniques are all composed of the basic building blocks.

We are hosting the head of our kwan right now here in the States. At the end of every training session / seminar, he reminds us to practice the basics every day - "very important", as he reminds us regularly.

Thank you. I just stay positive, and I know the basics are what builds the great.

I forgot how it exactly goes, but let me think. (these are not in order, and some I don't think I know the name)

    White Belt
    Yellow Belt
    Orange Belt
    Green Belt
    Blue Belt
    Brown Belt
    High Brown
    Red Belt
    High Red
    Deputy 1
    Deputy 2
    Deputy 3
    Deputy 4
    Black Belt

And it takes awhile to get up higher, which is good. (It shows they care about your skill, insted of just getting you higher)

They said it will probably be 3-4 years on average to get my black belt. They said it may take longer, but that's ok, because everyone can learn and work at their own pace.

In our school we still use the old 6 Belt system:
    White to Yellow
    Yellow to Green
    Green to Blue
    Blue to 2nd Red
    2nd Red to 1st Red
    1st Red to Black

The Official ICHF Rank system is a ten Belt system:
    White to Yellow
    Yellow to Orange
    Orange to Green
    Green to Purple
    Purple to Blue
    Blue to Brown
    Brown to Red
    Red to Red/Black
    Red/Black to Black/white
    Balck/white to 1st Dan black
