Air alert got bad reviews from some people. They say you just get knee pains. I never tried it though. Tried and true exercises include squats/deads , olympic lifts, plyos (dont do this without a good strength base, you can damage your tendons). This guy may just have great genes. Many people can jump very high without special training.
Chances are, he's one of those anomalies we love to hate I say it's genetic 100% of the way. Probably just an oddly high number of fast twitch muscle fibers. I'd be surprised if he even does plyos.
With bringing my ATG Squat max from 240 to 280, my vert went up about 3-4 inches, without any plyos. I think once I can get double bodyweight all the way down, I will be able to touch rim. I hope once I get 350+ ATG, I will be able to grab it. I am going to get some jump sole soon, so that should help as well. I'm 5'10", so if I can do it, most can with work.
