I think the problem many guys have is dealing with rejection. Getting rejected from a job interview might feel like crap, getting rejected from an invitation to a party might suck, getting rejected from a social network of friends might feel bad BUT there is nothing more CRAPPY feeling than getting constantly rejected from women everytime you approach them. I'm sure for many guys after the several 100 rejections, they start to wonder wtf they are doing wrong and ask people for advice.

Like everyone has said, friends of friends are good for more serious stuff. Then again i hate mixing my friends with my girlfriend, I tend to try and meet people are large parties and go for the ones that seem to be on the outskirts with nobody they seem to know there (usually because it's full of people i don't want to know )
Sometimes guys look at a girl and think "My God, she is SOOO hawt, she MUST already have a boyfriend!" This isn't always true, 'cause if everyone thought this way, that poor woman would be single her whole life.
