    Not angry, just time to move on, and I don't want to get into the details of why I ended it. Ghosts from the past..

    I guess, I would ask, why were men like me, so taught to avoid emotional contact with others? I feel like I was screwed out of possible good things..

    My take is that it comes from the "manly man" persona we're all meant to have , it's all part of the gender stereotypes that were drummed into us along with "men don't cry" and all that other macho nonsense , and to be honest at least in the 70s & 80s when I was growing up , there was probably quite a large amount of culturally accepted homophobia mixed in with it , thankfully we seem to have moved past all that now.
