Su Lin - I used to play the Viola as well. Isn't it beautiful?

I played the drums and was in a percussion band in my heyday as a rebellious teenager. Piano for about 14 years.

Cool, yes ,it's a really lovely instrument. It annoyed me when I gave it up due to an awful A Level music teacher! Originally wanted to take it up professionally, but had to play 2nd instrument so chose the clarinet, but it was awful , I just kept sounding like I was slaughtering a swan!
I used to play the steel drums too, they were ace!

Hmmm, I thought I had responded to this thread.

    Anywho...

I play 6-string bass guitar, and fretless bass guitar. It was my profession for a number of years. I have a degree in Jazz Performance, so in answer to the OP, I can read music quite well. Mini CV follows: I've played in clubs, on the road (from the Yukon to New Mexico), on cruise ships, TV, major festivals, and a fair amount of studio work, including one full-length CD, and a third of another, give or take. I also play a bit of flute (that's what I started on), and I used to dabble in classical guitar and string bass. Man, I gotta start gigging again. :)

    Best regards,

    -Mark

I recently started learning to play the acoustic guitar and got myself a Falcon FG100 (or whatever it is) with it being pretty cheap. Planning on getting a Squier Affinity Strat sometime soon.

Its just a general studenty thing to do! You get out of home and away from people who say "you're not learning to play that in my house!" so a guitar is bought at Uni :D
