Garth Brooks - Fresh Horses After 5 huge studio albums, some greatest hits compilations, and reaching the top of the world, Garth puts out this, his 6th studio album. Although not as commercially successful as the prior 5, some pretty good stuff here. The old stuff, The fever, That ol' wind, Rollin' The beaches of Cheyenne, She's every woman.
Brooks And Dunn - The Greatest Hits Collection These Country hit makers were all over the charts/radio throughout the 90's. Solid collection of their hits. You're gonna miss me when your gone, He's got you, That ain't no way to go, Neon moon, My Maria, Brand new man.
Coming back on the NYS Thruway yesterday and I passed the exit for Vernona NY and have not been able to get this song out of my head since, so I'm listening to it now
Was recently curious as to where the "ride on time" by blackbox sample organically came from. Love sensation by Loleatta Holloway Probably should not be surprised that this song is probably the foundation for most vocal samples in 90s dance music. I feel that she should get compensated for the huge amount of sampling from this, similar to the class "Amen" break by the Winston's, which was the foundation of hip-hop and jungle beats.
Jackson Browne - The Next Voice You Hear(The Best Of) Some classic songs as well as some not really hits. As much as I like Jackson some of his songs have a tendency to meander along and may be a little to introspective for me. As with a lot of greatest hits compilations some great songs are missing, and some so-so songs are included. Good CD nonetheless. Doctor my eyes, These days, Running on empty, Somebody's baby, In the shape of a heart, Tender is the night. Noteable omissions: Redneck friend, Take it easy, Rock me on the water, You love the thunder, Boulevard, That girl could sing, Lawyers in love.
Keith Burrows Band - Heart In A Box Good CD by local (Sonora Ca.) band. I've seen KBB live a couple of times at local venues and really like their sound. It's basically Country/Southern Rock. At live shows they extend the songs out with some nice instrumental jams, but on the CD they keep them trimmed down a little. Good songs, good playing. Rushing in, Fall down, Far less travelled road, Heaven's way, Heart in a box.
Rush - A Farewell To Kings After a big breakthrough on 2112 Rush released a double live all The Worlds A Stage. After touring they headed back to the studio to create this masterpiece. 2112 saw them start to experiment with synthesizers, they took that to another level here. This album also includes what many consider to be their first radio-hit, Closer to the heart. Xanadu, Cinderella man, Cygnus x-1, Closer to the heart.
Well, since I can no linger stand the ridiculous political conversations going on around me..... I am listening to this to drown them out...and it is working
Bush - Sixteen Stone in 1994 Bush were all over the radio/mtv with this one. Several big hits-solid debut. Everything zen, Little things, Comedown, Body, Machine head, Glycerine.
Rush - Hemispheres 5th studio album by Canadian trio. For me this album is the third and final installment of this era of Rush albums(2112, Farewell to kings and this one). These albums were heavy on synth's, space/science fiction themes, and long multi-movement songs. It was a golden age of the Rush history for sure and produced some of their most creative music. Cygnus x-1 book II(movements I-V), Circumstances, The trees, La villa strangiato( movements I-XII). LVS would also be the first of many amazing Instrumental songs Rush would record-all of which are incredible.
