I believe that the real "strength" of Silat is in its study of Tactics in confrontation. Feinting weakness or unreadiness is one I've learnt. Concealment of weapons in deployment is another. Running away to gain a more advantageous position is yet another. How about yourselves?
I've learned how to counter against kicks that seem as though you've been struck hard, but you've actually either absorbed the impact harmlessly or caused damage to the attacker's leg,and left him/her open to counterattack.
The entries from Tjimande and silat zulfkari.. Bone crushing at the best.. Ties in with the Filipino and Chinese Kuntao that I have been practicing for a while now.. It all melds together in application.
I dont know if you are familiar with a silat technique called the "dance of live" highly stylized and artistic movements like a dance, covering up for a bunch of quick knife attacks.
Hi ritsart, of course as a Silat practitioner I'm familiar with that. Most Silat here in Malaysia is of the "dance" nature... Thanks!
