In your system of silat do you use weapons? What kind? Is there a paticular manner in which they're applied(that your allowed to say)?
I train in buka jalan pentjak silat and I have trained with a dagger and a short staff(longer then a escrima stick) in silat it wasn't much different then empty hand other then having a weapon. It may be real different the longer you train but what I have experienced wasn't.I did weapon entries from tiga, lima and kurung and punchar, pentjak. These were all pretty basic entries but my sifu said weapons are part of are silat so they probaly will get very technical. I hope this info helps if I can be more specific Iwill try. thanx moe389
Are there silat systems that don't teach weapons? We have five main weapons: knife, barong, stick, staff, spear. Then there are flexibles, projectiles.....
I think silat from west java either does not use weapons in their system or uses different weapons im not 100% on that.
